Six months into U.S.-Israel campaign, Iran war shows no end in sight

Half a year on, the physical scars of the war's earliest days remain visible across the country, with buildings still in ruins, according to PBS NewsHour reporting. The human toll of the opening strikes was immediate and severe. In the southern city of Minab, more than 100 children were killed when their school was bombed on the war's first day, PBS NewsHour reports. Khadijeh Ahmadizadeh, a bereaved mother from Minab, said in an interview carried by PBS NewsHour: "They have left a pain in the heart of Minab that will never go away. They think that now six months have passed that our hearts have grown cold, but they haven't at all. It's getting worse. This pain is so heavy. The children left with so many dreams."

Regional military activity continued on the six-month milestone. Israel carried out a rare airstrike in the occupied West Bank today, killing a Hamas operative and two of his accomplices, according to Israeli claims reported by PBS NewsHour. The militant group confirmed that the target was a member and condemned the attack, PBS NewsHour reports.
