White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave the role at the end of August, President Trump announced in a Truth Social post on August 12.

Trump wrote that Leavitt is leaving so she can spend more time with her children and family, called her one of the best White House press secretaries in the history of the office, and thanked her for a job well done, according to reporting from NBC News, CNN and CNBC.

Leavitt is 28 and the youngest person to have held the post. The announcement comes less than a month after she returned from maternity leave and held her first briefing back; she had her second child in May, per the same reporting.
