Five people and multiple animals found dead on rural Oregon property; suspect found dead in Washington

Five people and several domestic animals were found dead on a rural property outside Forest Grove, Oregon on Saturday, according to NBC News reporting. The suspect, Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, was discovered dead inside his vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington on Sunday and is believed to have died by suicide.

Authorities initially responded to the rural property in unincorporated Washington County outside Forest Grove on Saturday morning following a 911 call about a vehicle fire. Officers from the Enumclaw Police Department located Parker's vehicle in the small city of Enumclaw, about 190 miles northeast of the crime scene, and found him deceased inside.

Detectives do not believe the killings were random. Washington County Sheriff Caprice Massey told reporters that Parker was known to the subjects, according to NBC News. Detective Shannon Wilde described the scene as a "large scene" on a rural property with surrounding homes and heavy vegetation. "I will say that in my 22 years here, I have not been a part of or witnessed a scene quite this complex involving this type of an investigation," Sheriff Massey said.

Detectives are working to confirm the identities of the five victims. The specific cause of death for the victims has not been disclosed. The sheriff's office stated there is no continued threat to the public.
